What is Delta Phi Tau?

Delta Phi Tau is the National Student Honor Society established by the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) to recognize Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students who demonstrate excellence, integrity, professionalism in areas of academic achievement, leadership, and service or research. DPT students who meet the ACAPT requirements will be considered for induction into Delta Phi Tau by their DPT program.  DPT students must have completed at least 60% of their DPT program - all Trimester 6 Full-Time DPT or Trimester 10 Flex DPT curriculum.  DPT students must rank in the top 25% of their current class cohort based on their cumulative, program GPA. DPT students must also provide proof of their achievements while enrolled in their DPT program in the areas of service, leadership, and/or research.

This application requires the student to submit a copy of their ACAPT application, three (3) letters of recommendation, and evidence of their achievements in service, leadership, and/or research.  Each applicant's GPA, cohort rank, and program progress will be verified by the Office of the Registrar.  Service, leadership, and/or research achievements will be ranked on a 20-point rubric by a designated committee of core faculty members within their DPT program.  A minimum of 16 points is required.  DPT students who meet the minimum requirements and score will be referred to their DPT Program Director for induction into Delta Phi Tau.  The Program Director will then recommend to ACAPT those DPT students selected for induction into Delta Phi Tau.  Members of Delta Phi Tau are expected to uphold and implement the core values of the physical therapy profession throughout their career.
